Latest

I haven’t blogged in a while. There is two reasons for that. 1, I have been using Twitter a bit more and 2, there’s nothing really going on. So what have I been doing. Well I’ve been watching a lot more movies lately and trying to write reviews again, but I don’t have the motivation to write much.

For the last month or so, I have been craving snow. So I have been preparing for my ski/snowboard holiday next year by pricing up new equipment, finding the best travel arrangement and trying to find accommodation in case we can’t get our usual place.
In revamp news, the store is finally complete. I’m trying to get used to where everything is now but it’s not as easy as you may think. Before it took me a couple of years to figure out where everything was and I knew all the aisle numbers. But now it’s as if I have started again. However there is a good side. It still makes me laugh to see customers walk up to the exit door, which used to be the entrance, and expect to get in. They walk right up to the door and then take one step back, look at the door all confused like, then walk to the other door.

Last weekend on Saturday 4th April, it was my birthday. I turned 22. How did I spend my birthday? Well. I went to work as it was the revamp re-launch weekend, they wouldn’t let me have the day off. So I worked 10-7. Practically the whole day. I didn’t let anyone know. So it was really quiet for a birthday. At work, it seemed like everyone was out to piss me off. Certain staff and customers alike.

In brother news, he has stopped nicking because he has no choice. Everything I own is locked away where he can’t get to it. However he has gotten more aggressive. He pretty much trashed his room today because he could find his chap stick. He really scares me sometimes.

The End of an Era

It sucks, Today at work, one of the best managers in the store has left. Jenko as he’s known by the staff has gone to work for our sister company, to be manager there. Did I mention it sucks. He’s been a manager at my store for as long as I have worked there and probably years before that. He was always there offering advice and a sympathetic ear. He could always tell if I was bored and tried to find me something to do. He even tried to give me occupational therapy. A really great guy. He’s been there for me so many times. He said goodbye and he hopes I achieve all I set out to do. I said good luck. As he walked out the door he blew me a kiss and said ‘you’ll see me again, I’ll be in all the time‘. He knew I was sad to see him go. Oh yeah, it sucks. Then after he walked out the door, I noticed the song playing on the PA system. It was Waiting For That Day by George Michael. The line that goes ‘I know I’ll never see your face again’. I don’t know if I mentioned IT SUCKS. Hopefully he'll come crawling back like some managers have.

The Good and The Bad

On Thursday 15th January my great aunty Christine died. I was really upset. She went in for a routine operation last year and they found cancer. They tried everything chemotherapy, radiotherapy and all types of medication but just after Christmas they decided there was nothing else they could do. Aunty Christine was a big lady and apparently by the end she was so thin and small. I wasn’t able to see her in hospital because the doctor thought it would be too stressful on her if different people kept coming to see her. So only great uncle Maurice, her children and my Nan were aloud in to see her. She was cremated on Friday 23rd January. I didn’t go because I want to remember her as the woman she was not what the cancer turned her into. As I am writing this I am fighting back the tears, I can’t even see what I am typing. Rest In Peace Aunty Christine.

In happier news, on last Saturday 24th January, I went to Sarisbury Green Social Club to see my cousins Barry and Colin perform in there band called Movin’ On. They do covers of songs from 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 00’s. They were pretty good. Colin plays rhythm guitar and is the lead vocalist but also played Bass guitar. Where as Barry plays bass and also does vocals but also played tambourine, according to mum he always used to play lead guitar. So I guess musical ability runs I runs in the family.

In revamp news the checkouts and returns desk have moved. The new returns desk is not what I expected. It’s too open and there is not enough security measures. There is no rear wall so people behind can see what we are entering into the tills. We have a massive window beside use, so people can see us that way. We have no door, so if we get an irate customer, they can come round at us. Plus the tills can be easily accessed. So we have demanded a wall behind us, even if it’s Perspex. A curtain at the wall. And a door and that’s just for starters.

For my final note today Happy Australia Day to all my family Down Under.
